Jeff Harrison and I am the owner o f Muttly’s Mobile Repair Service . I have been in the transportation industry since 1981. Over the years I have held many positions in this industry including a driver, operations manager, FMCSA Compliance officer, mechanic and shop manager for various companies. I found out early in my career that I enjoyed turning wrenches and solving problems with the rigs, plus I didn’t mind getting dirty. In 1994 I started this company part time while working full time as a shop manager for BFI (the garbage company). I left BFI in for a position at Traffic Markings South, Inc. (Highway Markings Company). I was hired on as the Shop Manager, equipment manager, OSHA compliance officer and FMCSA compliance officer for the southeast. Traffic Markings South, Inc. was a company that applied the lines and the markers on the roadway and interstates. I was still running this company part time on the side. Over time Muttly’s Mobile Repair Service grew and I had multiple locations in Georgia. Muttly’s Repair Service has always had the reputation of being straight up and honest with its customers and employees. But it is like I have always said, it is better to tell the people straight up what’s going on than to lead the customer into thinking everything is alright. I have always had the policy of not trying to get every job out there. Sometimes it best serves our customer if we direct the customer to a company or facility that we partner with that can do the job better because of being in a traditional shop where it is an enclosed environment. I have always had a policy that advice is free. I tell each one of my customers and employees “It doesn’t cost us anything to pick up the phone and answer a few questions or to walk a mechanically minded individual through what to check. If we can help someone save money today, they will remember us tomorrow”. How the name Muttly came about is a common question. While working for BFI as a shop manager I loved to eat hot pork rinds and my fellow employees gave me the nickname of Muttly . There is a brand of pork rinds out named Mutt and Jeff or Jeff and Mutt. It was meant to be an insult but I liked it and decided to name the company Muttly’s Repair Service . When I hear the name Muttly I do not think of the pork rinds, I think of the cartoon dog by Hannah Barbara, Mutley , that always screws the bad guys up so the good guys can win. I like to think that we are the good dog helping our customers out of bad situations. Plus I like the nickname, it is unusual and fun. Our Customers Our customers range from some of the worlds largest companies down to the average RV owner, Bus operator, Semi - Truck owner operator. Over the years we have gained many customers and this is only a few to list. I started a recruitment process of the best people I knew in the industry and started opening new locations.
